I had the opportunity to visit with Kelly Becker at our Mission Fair and learn more about the organization LifeWire that she is passionate about and works for. Our congregation helps financially support LifeWire with our mission funds as well as we have members of our congregation who volunteer their time there.
From their website-LifeWire.org-this is what LifeWire does:
"LifeWire offers survivor-driven, trauma informed services, promotes prevention through community-based training and coaching, and leads through pioneering strategies and partnerships."
They touch all aspects of a person’s and family’s life that is experiencing domestic violence. They work to end domestic violence by “changing individual, institutional, and societal beliefs, attitudes and behaviors that perpetuate it.”
Kelly impressed upon me that they don’t just find housing for a person and then tell them they are on their own. LifeWire helps them get counseling, legal assistance, offers support and works to build a safer home for their families. They help families find long-term stability.
If you are interested in learning more about LifeWire, you can go to their website: LifeWire.org. If you are in a domestic violence situation and want help - call their 24-hour helpline at 425-746-1940 or 800-827-8840. If you want more information about volunteering, email .
