Kelly Hostetler

Associate Pastor of Congregational Care and Familiesoffice: 425.868.5186 x110

An ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church (USA) since 2007, Kelly has served a number of churches in both Seattle and Northwest Coast Presbyteries since moving to Seattle in 2014. Before that, she served for seven years as Associate Pastor at St. Charles Avenue Presbyterian Church in New Orleans, a faith community shaped by the holy journey of rebuilding and recovery in the wake of Hurricane Katrina's devastation. Kelly grew up in Spokane, a child of ministry – her mother worked for 30 years at First Presbyterian Church in downtown Spokane, while her father, a high school English teacher and college professor, volunteered for nearly two decades in Young Life. Kelly’s journey post-high school led her to life experience and higher education in an unconventional path the culminated in her graduation from Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, Georgia with a Master of Divinity at age 35. She attended seminary having already earned an MFA in Creative Writing from Eastern Washington University. She is a lifelong learner and an avid reader and writer. One of her favorite authors is Sara Miles, whose statement about faith is defining for her: “Faith, for me, isn’t an argument, a catechism, a philosophical “proof.”  It is instead a lens, a way of experiencing life, and a willingness to act.”

Kelly lives in Sammamish with her husband, Matthew, their son, Caedmon and their beloved rescue cat, Zulu.
