    Nehemiah 1:1-4 & 1:11-2:6

    1. Have you ever been involved in a project such as building a home, or remodeling an existing structure? What was your role in the project? What was that experience like for you?

    2. What are some of the purposes you see that “walls” play? How do those purposes change with time? When do you tear down a wall?

    3. How do “gates” affect the value of a wall?

    4. In our text, what did Nehemiah want to rebuild and why? What would cause him to have such strong emotions about the condition of a place where he’d never lived himself? What would cause you to respond like he did?

    5. When you look at a wrecked or dilapidated place, do you see what was or what could be?

    • In your life or in the life of the church, are there “walls” that need to be rebuilt, rubble that should be cleared up or gates that need to be opened? How is strong is your foundation?
