    Matthew 8:5-13

    1. Have you ever had an experience of going to worship in a different country? What was it like? What was the same? Different? What did you see?

    2. In Capernaum, Jesus is approached by a Roman centurion, asking Jesus to heal his servant (literally "son" in Greek). When Jesus says he will come to his house, the centurion says that Jesus only say the word, and the boy would be healed. What makes him come to that conclusion? How does Jesus respond?

    3. The centurion takes his own unique experience of life as a soldier and discovers Jesus through it.  This reminds us that Jesus the living Word speaks through a myriad of different shapes and forms. He will meet us in the most amazing ways and places. Compare your stories--Where and how did Jesus meet you in your life? How have you heard him speak? How is your story the same as others? How was it different?

    4. Jesus honors diversity. How can we as a church support that truth? What does it look like for you personally to be a person who honors the diversity of Jesus in his people?
