    John 2:1-11

    1.  When you hear the word "Mission" what do you think it means?
    2.  The theological term "Missio Dei" means the mission of God, proclaiming that God was the first missionary, coming to earth to rescue us through his covenant promise and ultimately his son, Jesus Christ. As his followers, we too are called to venture out to rescue others from death in all it's forms. As you look at your own life, what are some ways you have lived into you calling as a missionary to God's world?

    3.  Eugene Peterson talks about missional living in terms of "unearthing holiness." Where have you seen holiness afoot in your everyday life this week?
    4. We often think of mission being something "out there", away from our homes, travelling to another place. But in Jeremiah, God is calling the exiled people of Israel to be "seek the welfare of the city" they are captive in. For them, missions is an inside/out venture; a calling to pray for, beautify, and work for the good of their neighbors, even if they are very different than themselves. In the spirit of Jeremiah's teaching, what are some ways you might be a "missionary" to your neighborhood today?
