June 6, 2021 Study Notes

  1. When did your parents let you “learn the hard way” by letting you have or do something they knew was not good for you?
  2. God has seen what happened in the past when the people turned away from God. Why then does God now accede to their wishes for “a king to judge us”? Can’t God see the hardships that will follow?
  3. The elders gave two reasons for why they wanted a king:
    1) Samuel’s sons were corrupt, in their view; and
    2) They wanted to be “like the other nations.”
Which of these reasons do you think hurt Samuel the most? Which do you think hurt God the most?

  4. When are you inclined to want something just to be “like everyone else”? How do you keep that desire from enslaving you?
