Advent: Peace

Rev. Jake Medcalf delivered an inspiring sermon focused on finding peace in the midst of life's storms. He reflected on Isaiah 9 and emphasized the concept of 'shalom,' a Hebrew word signifying fullness and wholeness of life. Rev. Medcalf discussed how the cosmic countdown to a peaceful future began with the birth of the Prince of Peace and how, despite current global conflicts and personal anxieties, we can still achieve a sense of peace by resting our will on divine assurance. He illustrated these points using the story of Jesus calming the storm from Matthew 8, encouraging listeners to trust in God's promises and to lay down their burdens. The sermon concluded with a call to the congregation to embrace peace by abandoning outcomes to God and to practice taking a 'nap in the back of the boat' amidst life's challenges.
